Love on the Left, Friendship on the Right
During the journey of exploration in adolescence, high school students are facing many confusions about friendship and love. To guide students to better understand themselves and the complexity of interpersonal relationships, on August 24th during the experience camp, SHBS organized a lecture on adolescent emotional health with the theme "Love on the Left, Friendship on the Right", inviting Dr. Yang Cailian, a senior psychological education expert, to share.
During the lecture, the expert delved into the psychological theories of individual personality formation, noting that many of our personality traits and behavioral patterns often originate from our parents. By understanding these traits inherited from our parents, students can deeply analyze themselves and recognize their own personality and emotional tendencies.
At the same time, such topics inevitably lead to students asking questions. Students also presented many common or abstract love processes that they and others have experienced, and Dr. Cailian also answered and analyzed the students' questions.
She hopes that students will cultivate the right communication concepts, understand the underlying logic of emotions, recognize the complexity in emotions, and make the right choices calmly and rationally between friendship and love. She also encourages students to view interpersonal relationships with a dynamic perspective. Maintaining an appropriate distance when nurturing a relationship can actually contribute to its long-term stability. This is a valuable life lesson for teenagers.
First Aid Knowledge Lecture
On August 25th, Dr. Xie, the school doctor of SHBS, brought a lively and practical first aid knowledge and emergency prevention measures lecture to the teachers and students of the experience camp in the dance room.
Considering the wide participation of adolescents in various sports activities, from relatively safe activities like badminton, soccer, and basketball, to challenging high-risk sports such as rock climbing, parkour, and skiing, Dr. Xie reminded everyone of the importance of mastering first aid skills to ensure their own safety.
At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Xie first displayed the key items in the first aid kit, such as fracture fixation boards, bandages, disinfected cotton balls, etc., and explained the specific uses, correct methods of use, and safety precautions of these items in emergency situations one by one.
Subsequently, Dr. Xie explained the operation steps and importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in a simple and profound way. She pointed out that when encountering classmates or friends who suddenly fall into respiratory and circulatory arrest, drowning coma, or severe head trauma and other emergencies, timely implementation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the key to saving lives. She demonstrated in detail how to check the patient's consciousness, determine breathing and heartbeat, perform chest compressions and artificial respiration, and other key steps, and emphasized the importance of the coordination of compression depth, frequency, and artificial respiration for successful resuscitation.
In addition, Dr. Xie also specially introduced the Heimlich maneuver, which is an emergency rescue technique for respiratory or esophageal foreign body blockage. Through vivid cases and intuitive demonstrations, she made teachers and students deeply realize the wide application and importance of this emergency rescue method in daily life. She not only explained how to help others but also taught self-rescue skills, encouraging everyone to remain calm in the face of emergencies and take effective measures quickly.
At the end of the lecture, Dr. Xie emphasized the importance of enhancing self-protection awareness and mastering first aid skills. She hopes that students can stand up at critical moments to protect the safety of their own and others' lives.
