Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan High School introduced the detailed arrangements for the spring elective courses in 2025 to students in the auditorium on Wednesday afternoon. It provided students with a rich variety of course options, aiming to promote students' all - round development and cultivate diverse interests. It is reported that the elective courses this semester cover multiple fields such as humanities, science and technology, art, and sports. No matter which field students are interested in, they can find suitable courses among the elective courses.



In the field of humanities, the school has offered the course "Student Literary Magazine", encouraging students to engage in literary creation and photography, and to experience the whole process of magazine editing and publishing. For students who are passionate about history, courses such as "World History PBL" and "Northern Ireland in the 1990s" provide opportunities to delve deeply into history and cultivate critical thinking skills. The "Academic Essay Writing" course is dedicated to enhancing students' academic writing abilities.

In the field of science and technology, our school keeps pace with contemporary trends by offering a course on "Practical Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Work and Life," allowing students to understand the real-world applications of AI and experience the allure of technology. The course titled "This is Football" caters to football enthusiasts, while the "Generative AI Leadership" course explores the application of AI in leadership. Additionally, the "SAT Preparation" course provides targeted guidance for students interested in studying abroad. The school has also prepared a "Urban Agriculture" course for students.


In the arts, courses such as "Fun Painting" and "Chinese Calligraphy Drawing" provide students with a platform to unleash their artistic talents and appreciate cultural beauty. The school also offers a "Mood Diary" course.



In the sports domain, our school provides a variety of courses, including "Exercise Elective Course," "Walking and Conversing Elective Course," "Singing and Choir," "Archery," and "Muay Thai," catering to diverse athletic needs. Furthermore, courses in "Pickleball," "Rowing," and "Equestrian" are also available.



Additionally, the school offers courses such as "AP Seminar," "AP Government and Politics," "Current Affairs," "Higher Education," "Japanese," "Basic Stenography," "Macroeconomics and Microeconomics," and "Interpretation of Current Economic Events," further broadening students' knowledge and perspectives.

It is worth mentioning that SHBS also provides students with ample opportunities to participate in competitions and research projects, including the VEX Robotics Club, SRCC Robotics Club, CAD Engineering Challenge, Reverse Engineering Challenge, Wharton Global High School Investment Competition, NEC National Economic Challenge, SIC Middle School Investment Challenge, LIBF Global Finance Challenge, and iGEM International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition. Moreover, various research projects cover fields such as COVID-19 testing and depression research, as well as mathematical modeling, biology Olympiad, FTC Robotics Challenge, and the Conrad Challenge, offering students valuable opportunities to engage in cutting-edge scientific research and enhance their research capabilities.


Elective courses are an essential component of the school’s educational framework.
