In a rapidly changing world, career choices are no longer confined to a fixed path but have become a journey full of possibilities. To help students gain a deeper understanding of industry trends and broaden their horizons, Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School hosted a “Face-to-Face with Experts” session on March 17, which was the second phase of its annual CAS event, Career Exploration Week.
This event brought together seasoned professionals from various fields, including IT, law, fashion, artificial intelligence, and architecture, for in-depth discussions with students. The experts not only shared their career journeys but also provided valuable industry insights and career development advice. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to experience the appeal of different professions up close and inspired them to reflect on their future paths.
How did we manage to gather such an impressive lineup of guests in such a short time? Well, thanks to the power of guanxi—a.k.a. tight-knit school-community collaboration! Many of our esteemed guests were either parents of current students or were personally recommended by faculty and parents. This unique networking effort provided students with an incredible opportunity to have direct conversations with industry leaders.
Now, let’s take a look back at the highlights of this inspiring exchange and hear what the students have gained from it!

Mr. Mu Zelin introduced the three core parts of humanoid robots in detail, and focused on the training mode of the robot's "brain". He emphasized that the purpose of robot programming is not just to show off skills or demonstrate technical strength, but to enable robots to think and make decisions like humans. This process involves breaking down complex actions into multiple small steps, and through step-by-step training, it can learn and adapt to new environments autonomously. During the training process, the robot does not simply execute preset instructions, but learns how to split, understand and reassemble actions through algorithms.

In addition, lecturer Mu Zelin also shared other application cases of his company in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. He introduced the company's innovative practices in multiple industries, such as intelligent manufacturing, medical assistance, autonomous driving, and smart homes. These cases not only show the wide application of artificial intelligence technology in different fields, but also help students have a deeper understanding of the development trends and future prospects of the AI industry.
Through this explanation, students not only mastered the basic principles of humanoid robot training, but also had a more intuitive understanding of how AI technology changes the real world. This not only stimulated everyone's interest in artificial intelligence, but also made them full of expectations for the future of this field.

Urban planning is a discipline that blends both art and science. Ms. Wang Yingli, a senior urban planner, unveils the charm of this field for us. Urban planning is not merely about designing buildings and roads; it also involves shaping the future of cities through multidisciplinary knowledge, including economics, sociology, architecture, and geography. Ms. Wang mentioned that planners must have a broad vision, drawing inspiration from successful global cities such as Singapore and Manhattan, while also prioritizing the preservation of local historical sites. She emphasized that the essence of planning lies in "first assessing the current situation, then making predictions, and finally formulating plans," effectively conveying planning concepts through text, renderings, blueprints, and models. Whether it is rural revitalization, spatial optimization, or transportation support, urban planning plays a crucial role in ensuring sustainable urban development. Ms. Wang's insights reveal that urban planning is not just the application of technology but also a profound reflection on the future of cities and a commitment to responsibility.

This lecture specially invited Ms. Kang Yu, chief physician and doctoral supervisor of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University. She is the head of the "Phase 1" drug clinical trial ward, a postdoctoral fellow at the MD Anderson Cancer Research Center in the United States, and an editorial board member of Gynecologic Oncology, the official journal of the American Society of Gynecologic Oncology. Ms. Kang Yu has profound attainments in the field of personalized precision treatment of gynecological tumors and tumor genetic counseling. In the lecture, she shared her life experience and research results, and introduced the current status and challenges of gynecological tumor treatment. She mentioned that although the team has been able to delay the patient's life cycle and improve the survival rate through innovative research methods such as "basket experiments" and "umbrella experiments", continuous efforts are still needed. Ms. Kang Yu also emphasized the importance of psychological healing and called for attention to the patient's mental health. In addition, she explored the potential of AI in the medical field, pointing out that AI technology is playing an important role in auxiliary diagnosis, personalized treatment and drug development. At the end of the lecture, she encouraged everyone with "not fearing the future, not thinking about the past, having the best motives, and having no selfishness", and wished the students "light in their eyes, a road under their feet, a bright future, and all their wishes come true." Ms. Kang Yu's sharing made us realize that medicine is not only about treating diseases, but also a combination of research, exploration and teaching, aiming to bring hope and dignity to patients. Her dedication is admirable and inspires us to face future challenges with kindness and persistence.

Mr. Wang Jiajun is a senior expert of Pharmaceutical Cube, focusing on drug R&D and industrial strategy research, with more than ten years of practical experience in the pharmaceutical industry. In a recent lecture, he systematically analyzed the full cycle process of drugs from R&D to market launch and the core challenges of the industry, providing deep insights for practitioners.
Wang Jiajun pointed out that drugs need to go through three stages of R&D, commercial transformation, and clinical trials before they can be launched. The R&D stage is divided into two stages: research and development. The research stage requires a lot of repetitive work to predict and judge, and there is a huge risk of failure. These were previously done manually, but now AI can be done. However, AI cannot completely replace human work in this regard, so biologists generally use their own work experience to predict which molecules may be used for medicine. The development stage includes clinical trials, which are particularly critical.
In view of the characteristics of the pharmaceutical industry, he proposed that "professional knowledge is the core competitiveness". The industry barriers are high, and practitioners need to continue to learn about technical trends (such as the update of US guidelines) and delve into subdivided fields. He also emphasized that medical professionals need to have both scientific rigor and business acumen. He reminded practitioners to avoid misunderstandings, such as equating "R&D success" with "commercial success" or ignoring regulatory details that lead to project delays. In the end, he concluded: "The mission of the pharmaceutical industry is to benefit others. Only with humility, professionalism and persistence can we promote innovation and truly benefit patients." I was deeply touched.
