In September, as the fragrance of osmanthus fills the air and autumn deepens, the 40th Teachers' Day arrives quietly amidst the anticipation and expectations of a new semester and new journey. The beautiful campus of SHBS is also filled with strong respect and gratitude. Both Chinese and foreign teachers nourish students' souls with their wisdom and patience, making vibrant lives as splendid as an autumn painting. The students' grateful hearts and gazing eyes all express their respect and thanks to their teachers.
The Student Council, as representatives of the students, has been "plotting" for a long time on how to express their gratitude to the teachers and has prepared several plans. They mobilized students to write love cards for their teachers "unnoticed" by the teachers. Each card is adorned with a heart, and each heart is wrapped around a seed, symbolizing that teachers plant the seeds of future success in students through their educational actions and then patiently "wait for the flowers to bloom." At the same time, the Student Council also organized students to record a thank-you video for the teachers, which was lively and sincere. When played on P&B, it moved and surprised all the teachers, bringing tears and smiles. After the two presidents opened with poetic language, students delivered beautiful bouquets of flowers and exquisite gifts to the teachers, filling the auditorium with an atmosphere of gratitude. It is hard for us, as teachers, not to feel proud and proud, and it also allows teachers to feel the true meaning of "respecting teachers and valuing education." The touching and happy Teachers' Day began in this warm morning meeting, and "today" will definitely be profound and unforgettable, perhaps even more enduring over time.
Before class, a sudden appearance of a fine paper card on the podium, with elegantly written blessings and thanks, makes you vibrant and energetic throughout the class; after class, a sudden appearance of a box of throat lozenges on the office desk, although unknown who gave it, still warms the heart and melts all fatigue, with a happy "little pride" on the corner of the mouth; during the break, the "Happy Teachers' Day!" greetings that come to you make it hard not to think you are surrounded by a dazzling halo. After school in the afternoon, the school prepared a sumptuous dinner for the teachers to "reward" everyone's hard work, and the expectation and surprise of the raffle catalyzed the teachers' happiness and pleasure.
In the hearty laughter, in the sincere communication, in the heartfelt blessings, Teachers' Day came to an end, and the teachers' mood gradually returned to calm. The joy and happiness of this day belong to the teachers, come from the students, and benefit the cause of education. After the celebration, the teachers will continue to work hard, continue to lead the vibrant students with our passion and wisdom to explore the world and demonstrate the power of life.
The Teachers' Day belongs to us, but also to you.
Interviews
What does Teachers' Day mean to you?
Mr. Wang (Dorm room Teacher)
Today is my 22nd Teachers' Day. Teachers' Day has a special significance for me: it constantly reminds me to be a role model, to pass on all the truth, goodness, and beauty around me to more children, and to bring more warmth to the world!
Ms Liz (English Teacher)
Teachers‘ day isn't something that we really celebrate in England so when I first came to China and experienced my first Teacher's Day it was a happy surprise. My best memories of Teachers’ Day have been students that perhaps were a little bit shy speak to me coming into my office to give me a hand made gift or a card and I think it's a great opportunity for students to say thank you to teachers for the roll that we play in their lives. I wish I could go back in time and thank every one of my teachers for the impact that they had on my life especially now that i'm a teacher myself.
William Yu (Economics Teacher)
This is my first Teachers' Day. Looking back on the past six months, I still feel a bit strange about the identity of being a teacher, as if I haven't gotten used to it. But this holiday is probably the one I want to celebrate the most and am happiest to be able to celebrate.
Ms Rachael (English Teacher)
Where I'm from there was no teacher's day. No particular moment when we celebrated teachers and certainly not as a community or country as a whole. My first teacher' day came as a wonderment to me. Here were children, and parents, an entire country honoring me and the work I do. This is my 6th teachers day. This year is particullary special to me because I have both new and returning students.
Ms. Liu (Executive Principal)
This is my 39th Teachers' Day. For me, Teachers' Day means more beautiful memories, memories that let me stick to the original intention of being a teacher.
Ray (Chinese Teacher)
Another year of Teachers' Day, I don't realize that this is the tenth Teachers' Day since I started teaching. What does Teachers' Day mean to me? "There is a beginning to everything, but few can see it through." Teachers' Day means everything is as it was at the beginning. We often say that as a teacher, one must have love, patience, and attention to detail. But I think the most important thing is the conscience. The initial heart is good. Everything as it was at the beginning is to maintain a good conscience, good ability, and good kindness. To be a good teacher, to spread good teachings, that's all.
