The 2024 SHBS Orientation Camp officially kicked off on August 21. The 7-day "Orientation Camp" features carefully designed activities such as fun English and science classes, team-building exercises, dual-excellence program sessions, admission seminars, health lectures, and business competitions. These activities aim not only to help students quickly adapt to the campus and build friendships but also to give them an academic boost and assist in initial course selection.
On the evening of August 20, with the summer heat still lingering, teachers and student volunteers were already at the registration area of the Science Building, ready to assist new students and their families in settling in. As the students received their luggage, they became part of the school family from that moment on.
On August 21, the Orientation Camp officially began. At dawn, the teaching buildings glistened under the sunlight. Enthusiastic students arrived one after another, signaling the start of a new chapter.
At 10 AM, new students, dressed in camp uniforms meticulously designed by senior students, sat neatly in the auditorium. The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice Principal Ms. Irene Ma and Assistant Principal Mr. Tony Wang. The humorous speech by Principal Chris instantly enlivened the atmosphere.
In the afternoon, students were divided into groups and attended different classes. During the English ice-breaking session, they formed groups freely, and the engaging course content created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Some classes involved solving a mock crime, others involved creatively designing medal statistics, while some students used surveys to understand their classmates' preferences. The relaxed classroom environment alleviated the anxiety of the new students, and the sense of unfamiliarity gradually faded away.
After dinner, as the evening set in, students returned to the auditorium after a brief rest in their dorms, eager to participate in the exciting student council elections. Many students enthusiastically took part, with many trying out for the first time, but all showing courage and eagerness.
As they left the auditorium, the bright moon illuminated the night, and the cicadas' summer song continued, but none of this dampened the students' enthusiasm. The first fulfilling day of the camp had come to an end, and more exciting activities await!
