Spring Semester Opening Ceremony

On the afternoon of February 18, 2024, with the arrival of the new spring, Hongrun Boyuan School held its 2024 spring semester opening ceremony in the auditorium. The ceremony was hosted jointly by Christopher Moses, the principal, and Irene Ma, the assistant principal. All the teachers and students gathered together to share new expectations and blessings for the new semester.

To warm up the atmosphere, Aria Lin, Cynthia Wen, Sophia Tian and Sophie Xu, dressed in bright dance costumes, presented a lively dance for the teachers and students with nimble movements and gestures. Hayden performed a powerful and passionate rap song on the stage. Finally, led by Jeff Guo, the dorm parents and teachers from the logistics team brought an energetic popular dance, igniting the atmosphere!

Then, the teachers stood up group by group and waved to the students, conveying blessings and expectations for the new semester. The students' enthusiastic cheers in response narrowed the distance between teachers and students.

Chloe Chen, our psychology teacher, spoke on behalf of the teachers. Through sharing her experience of going to sea with her family to watch whales, she explained the significance of finding inner motivation. She hoped that teachers and students could draw inspiration from it and enjoy the process with a more positive attitude, facing the challenges of the new semester.

Afterwards, Thea Wu, Ella Wu, and Pamela Pan, three student representatives, took to the stage one after the other, each sharing their unique tales of growth. Their accounts of overcoming challenges resonated deeply with the audience, stirring emotions and sparking inspiration. They delivered a powerful message of encouragement to their peers: through collective effort and a commitment to reaching for greater heights, anything is possible.

The award ceremony pushed the atmosphere to a climax. SHBS offers nearly ten scholarships every semester to encourage students with outstanding and significantly improved performance in academics, activities, moral character and other aspects. When the names of the award winners were announced one by one, the auditorium was filled with enthusiastic applause and cheers. These honors not only affirmed their past efforts, but also recognized their future potential. Parents were also invited on stage to be honored by the school for their unwavering support and dedication in fostering home-school cooperation throughout the last semester.

Finally, Principal Bowen Chen delivered a speech for the new semester. He emphasized the school's attention and respect for the individual differences of each student. He said that in the AI era, the school will strive to create the most suitable learning environment for everyone. He encouraged teachers and students to continuously challenge themselves and pursue excellence in knowledge, skills and other aspects to achieve self-improvement and become masters of AI. At the same time, he also proposed the concept of "Innovation Heights", hoping that all teachers and students can dare to innovate and try new things, and jointly develop a better future.

The opening ceremony came to an end in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. The students left the auditorium and went to their own classrooms. They looked forward to gathering with new and old classmates and carrying out activities in the classes. They got to know each other, reminisced and welcomed newcomers, sharing stories and goals for the new semester. They encouraged each other and cheered for one another. The homeroom teachers also prepared some exhortations and blessings for the students and organized some interesting games and interactions. The students participated actively with laughter and chatter all around.

The challenging and promising new semester is about to begin. SHBS will continue to provide the best learning conditions and environment for students, so that everyone can find their own light and path here.
