Editor's Note:

Observing the world enables one to form a broader worldview. As an international school, Hongrun Boysuan is committed to broadening students’ international perspectives and nurturing Chinese students who can integrate into and illuminate the world. To this end, the school continuously provides students with diverse international exchange programs and learning experiences. Currently there are exchange programs in the United States, Italy, India, Germany, Morocco, and the school also keeps exploring and developing exchange programs in other countries and regions.

Hongrun Boysuan’s international exchange programs not only take students overseas, but also bring foreign students here. Our students act as little hosts to help foreign students learn about and understand Chinese culture. In addition to Chinese cultural courses arranged by the school, such as Tai Chi, calligraphy and music courses, when foreign students visit, the school also fully leverages students’ talents by inviting them as lecturers to introduce foreign students to rich cultural contents like Chinese paper cutting, shadow puppetry, weaving, and tea culture.

After the pandemic, with borders reopening, Hongrun Boysuan immediately activated international exchange programs. Exchange programs to Germany and Morocco have been carried out in the second half of this year, and next year students from Italy and Germany will also come to our campus. Now, students are already actively recommending sightseeing spots for the visiting foreign students! Let's take a look together.

International Study Tour Reception Program Design

In order to welcome the upcoming students from the German Cologne International School who will visit SHBS next year, Hongrun Boyuan held a vibrant plan sharing session in the auditorium during the Chinese Academy of Sciences event time on the afternoon of December 4th. Martin, Lucas, Kevin, Ella, and Lexie jointly presented a unique and carefully planned international study tour program to China.

Shanghai: The Intersection of Fashion and Tradition

The first stop of the study tour is Shanghai, a fascinating city, where modernity meets tradition. The students' designed itinerary starts at the City God Temple, allowing the study tour group to experience the profound religious culture and charm of traditional architecture. The China Science and Technology Museum come next, not only showcasing China's brilliant technological achievements but also offering interactive exhibits for firsthand experience of the wonders of technology. In the afternoon, they would ascend the Oriental Pearl Tower to overlook the bustling metropolis. As night falls, a Huangpu River cruise will showcase the enchanting beauty of Shanghai's night scenery.

Hangzhou: Encountering the Harmony of Nature and Tradition

Later on, the well-planned visit to Hangzhou will lead the study tour group into a more serene world of nature and tradition. The group will visit tea plantations to experience the picking and production process of Chinese green tea and appreciate the profound influence of Chinese tea culture. They will also enjoy a boat ride on West Lake, admiring the scenic beauty of the lake and mountains, immersing themselves in a poetic natural landscape. A visit to Lingyin Temple will provide a spiritual baptism, allowing them to get closer to Chinese Buddhist culture and experience the philosophy of harmonious coexistence.

Nanjing: Delving into the Historical and Cultural Context

The Nanjing itinerary designed by the students is an in-depth exploration of China's profound historical and cultural heritage. Along the banks of the Qinhuai River, they will experience the unique charm of ancient Chinese civilization and witness how the illuminated river tells the stories of history at night. They will visit Confucius Temple to understand the profound influence of Confucian culture on Chinese education. The study tour group will also enter the Jiangnan Examination Hall to personally experience the historical relics of the imperial examination system and grasp the essence of China's ancient education system.

In this sharing meeting, the five students not only designed an educational and culturally enriching journey for the upcoming international study tour, but also demonstrated their profound insights into Chinese culture. This will be a journey of profound exploration of Chinese culture along with a bridge between different cultures, promoting understanding and friendship among international participants.

It is planned that next year, student groups from countries including Italy and Germany will come to our school for exchange activities. In addition to school-organized tours, the school will also prepare rich Chinese cultural experience activities for the visiting teachers and students, including calligraphy, Chinese songs, Tai Chi courses, etc. At the same time, foreign students will also be arranged to live with the families of our school's students and experience Chinese family culture in depth. These activities will be organized together by teachers and students to help foreign friends gain an in-depth understanding of Chinese cultural connotation. Not only will it be a journey to deeply explore Chinese culture, but more importantly, a bridge built between different cultures. This is of profound significance for enhancing communication and understanding between Chinese and foreign students.
