On August 24th, at 1:30 PM, the NewBiz Challenge of the Orientation Camp officially commenced at SHBS. This business challenge was co-hosted by SHBS and Yi Sheng Education, with the objective of aiding students in comprehending and becoming more acquainted with the business world. It aimed to cultivate teamwork, communication, leadership, and creativity skills.
More than 100 students took part in this business challenge, divided into four "countries" and twenty-one "companies." Each country's companies could gain advantageous resources from their respective country through a "mining machine." Students could obtain funds by selling resources or develop suitable products after conducting market research to generate profits. This marked the largest and most competitive business challenge in the school's history.
The challenge consisted of three rounds: one preparatory fiscal year and two formal fiscal years, with the preparatory year lasting for fifteen minutes, and each formal fiscal year lasting for eighty minutes, with a five-minute "break" in between.
During the preparatory year, students were eager to showcase their abilities in the virtual business world, aiming to become the next "Mark Zuckerberg" or "Warren Buffett."
The preparatory year transitioned smoothly amidst the enthusiastic atmosphere. As the formal fiscal years approached, funds were reset. Some "companies" rushed to buy large quantities of machinery, even borrowing substantial "loans" to seize the market. However, this led to tragic endings of insolvency and dissolution due to debts.
Nevertheless, some "companies" developed meticulous and detailed business plans after careful consideration, actively engaged in group collaboration, and eventually won the championship with assets exceeding 15 million.
The conclusion of the business challenge brought us not only the end of a game but also a real and vivid experience of the business world. In this short period, we witnessed the joys and sorrows of the business world, from initial ambitions to final successes and failures. We saw that seeking short-term gains might lead to short-sighted and impulsive decisions, while thoughtful planning, teamwork, and clear strategies are key to success.

We randomly interviewed a few students and let’s hear about their experiences during the business challenge:
Through this business challenge, I learned how to cooperate and understand my classmates. I hope to have the opportunity to participate in similar activities next time, which will allow me to better understand the operational logic of the business world and promote friendship among classmates.
Although the entire competition process was a bit tough and we encountered many setbacks, we managed to make a profit that met our goals thanks to the unremitting efforts of our team members.
I found that the cooperation among classmates was excellent, enhancing our understanding and honing our collaborative abilities. While the operational tasks posed challenges, such as negotiations and dealing with uncertainties, the overall experience was rewarding, and it brought me a great sense of happiness.
