About the Orientation Camp

Getting into an international high school does not simply mean entering a  higher grade, especially when you are from a public school, and many students and parents tend to neglect the importance of transition. SHBS has customized its Orientation Camp for students who choose international high schools. As a preparatory learning experience, the orientation camp enables students to adapt themselves to an international curricular system in advance so that they can make a smooth transition.

The week-long orientation camp is fast-paced and full-filling. It includes but is not limited to the following:

1

Immersive English-learning program offered by foreign teachers

2

Courses and programs aimed at bringing out students’ potential

3

Courses and programs aimed at developing students’ leadership skills and putting them into practice

4

College application and Career planning courses and programs

While developing the courses, we have fully taken teenagers’ psychological traits into consideration. In the first two days of the camp, students will participate in an American-style  training. Students will enjoy the pleasure of overcoming chellenges, build friendship through teamwork, practise English while doing projects, quickly get closer to each other, feel each other’s warm company and get excited about making new friends.

The interesting immersive English-learning programs taught by foreign teachers allow students to communicate and think in English in a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere so that they won’t be afraid of the language and keep themselves away from it. Students will be able to improve their understanding and command of the language by speaking English while making new friends. The Fun Science course and robotics course will truly fascinate students. The courses providing instruction on academic improvement, college application and career planning will make students have an overall and in-depth understanding of the international curricular system and a sense of planning, so that they can plan their high school years in advance.

Double Excellence programs like rowing, music, arts, golf, and creative biological projects can help students further explore their own talents and interests and stimulate the best of themselves.

The P&B (Psychology and Behavior) session each morning helps students learn how to reflect on what they have learned and done; Students will be encouraged to seize every opportunity, such as camp leader election and execution of their duties, designing and organizing talent show, business contest and many other activities, to train and present themselves. Students will learn in activities and projects how to improve their leadership skills so that they can better lead themselves and others.

Students will be able to train their life skills by attending training sessions on dorm life, first-aid, field trip, etc..

The orientation camp will be concluded with a wonderful and meaningful closing ceremony, which will be a talent show as well as a celebration, guidance as well as a goal. Students will find the 7-day-long camp fast-paced and fulfilling. It will not only leave them with good memories but also help them grow amazingly.
