On December 16, 2024, SHBS hosted its highly anticipated annual Drama Festival. The festival aimed to provide students with a stage to showcase their talents, express themselves, and experience the charm of art, illuminating every corner with the brilliance of drama and music, becoming a dazzling highlight in the campus cultural life.

The performances at the Drama Festival were divided into two parts. Under the guidance of our school's professional drama teacher, Mr. Steven, students from the Advanced Musical theatre, Introduction To Performance Arts A and B, Choir and Singing Elective Course, and Speech and Rhetoric.

The festival opened with three warm and touching musical pieces. First, Jennifer performed a solo piece "One Day I’ll Fly Away" (from "Moulin Rouge"), her melodious voice expressed the pursuit of dreams and hope. Following that, Lucas passionately interpreted the classic song "Your Song", his emotional and pure voice deeply touched the audience. The trio performance of "Memory" (from "Cats") by Jenny, Shelly, and Mr. Steven then took the atmosphere to a climax, portraying deep memories of passing time with perfect harmony.

The highlight of the Drama Festival was a series of performances of classic drama scenes. The “Interrogation of the Staff”(from The Pink Panther Strikes) was collectively presented by students from the Intro Performance Art A and B, winning applause with clever humor and vivid performances. In a classic scene from "The Glass Menagerie", 12 students portrayed an emotionally intertwined family story with delicate performances that immersed the audience in the characters' inner worlds. The mutiny scene from "Mutiny on the Bounty" was filled with escalating climaxes as 14 students portrayed the theme of rebellion against tyranny and the pursuit of freedom to the fullest. Additionally, the scene "Real Bullets" from the movie "The Three Amigos" was filled with humor and action elements, with the perfect coordination of 14 students causing uproarious laughter, showcasing the fun and expressive power of drama. Furthermore, students from the Speech and Rhetoric collaborated to recite the unforgettable passage "Mencius, The Doctrine of the Goodness of Human Nature", enchanting the audience with the charm of language.

In the second part of the show, 11 students performed eight scenes from Shakespeare's classic play "Romeo and Juliet" together. On stage, the conflict between love and fate became vivid and profound in the actors' performances. Their meticulous portrayal brought to life the poignant love story of Romeo and Juliet, touching the audience deeply.

Next, in "All I Ask of You" (from "The Phantom of the Opera"), students conveyed tenderness and promises through their singing, creating a serene atmosphere that immersed everyone in the music. Finally, in the grand chorus "Only You", all performers took the stage together, their voices merging into a warm and moving ocean of sound, bringing a perfect conclusion to the Drama Festival.

The successful hosting of this Drama Festival not only showcased the students' deep artistic skills and limitless creativity but also allowed everyone to experience the power and beauty brought by drama and music. SHBS will continue to provide students with a rich platform for artistic education, allowing every child who loves performing to shine on stage, grow, and gain confidence. The dream of art takes root and blossoms here, and the power of youth is unleashed on the stage with full force!
