Introducing the first-ever school English literary magazine created by SHBS students! This beautifully printed magazine features a wealth of original photography, poetry, paintings, and short stories by current students at SHBS, as well as a special feature on stray cats rescued by the school's renowned club, “Eden of Cats”. Now available for purchase both on and off campus!

The name of this magazine is Lightyear. When Ella first told me what she meant by the name, I was reminded of Frank Ocean's last line in his song Futura Free: How far is a lightyear? It was later printed on the back cover. The reason is that the structure of this song seems to me to have some similarities to our magazine: different people reflect on each other's lives, looking for some innocence and good experiences in the current complicated life. At the end of the meeting of these thoughts, it is best to end with a question without an exact answer.

As teenagers, the life we experience up to high school is nothing more than incomplete. However, it is also in these brief days that the most vigorous and benevolent thoughts of mankind are manifested. In this issue, we devoted a section to the brilliant colors of spring. When editing it, my mind became as bright and full of vitality as the spring scenery on campus. Thanks to Marc’s Friday election for providing a quiet haven where I could stay and rest during the busiest year of high school. Surely from Lightyear from the first page on Canva to the final maturity, the dribs and drabs will give me long-lasting comfort and happiness when I think back later.

How far is a lightyear? Whether intended or not, it can serve as a respite from our busyness, freeing and nourishing the mind. Besides, who knows how long a lightyear is? Who knows how long will our magazine last?

I feel my heart full of gratitude for the three months I spent with this magazine.
