On the morning of July 11 (Monday), 2022, SHBS English and Leadership Summer Camp officially started in a cheerful and friendly atmosphere, and camp students embarked on an extraordinary journey in Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School.
In the ANCHOR sessions every morning, students get focused and present with fun games, and then encourage each other, share touching videos and beautiful sentences, express their gratitude to each other, and welcome the new day with gratitude and support for each other.
English and drama classes in the morning are an immersive experience. In an all-English environment, based on stories and plays, students can experience the charm of different cultures and learn authentic English in real situations.
Carefully designed activities in the afternoon can help improve students’ team spirit and teamwork skills. Here they learn how to cooperate with others effectively and they feel the power of collective strength through fun activities like "Connect the fruits", "Build a Tower", "Magic Brush Pen", "Cup Dance", "Challenge NO. 1", and "F1 Car Race". The best education does not necessarily take place in the classroom, but in teamwork and tacit understanding among students.
In addition, we also provide first-aid training for the students--theory explanation, on-spot demonstration, and practice--which enables students to learn first-aid skills in simulated situations so that they can truly learn how to help themselves and others if needed.
Students enjoy a more diversified evening schedule, including reflective leadership course, movie night, ice cream party, reading time, featured music learning and song recording in the school’s studio, reading sharing session, etc. After returning to their dorm rooms, students spend their free time interacting with their roommates, calling their parents, reflecting on what they’ve learned during the day, or working on what they are going to share the next day. Then, they will embrace another splendid day after getting a good night’s sleep.
It has been five days since the summer camp opened, and many students feel that time flies by so fast. The reason why they feel so is that they are having fun doing a variety of enjoyable activities. We are looking forward to greater surprises and more wonderful performances they will bring us at the closing ceremony on Saturday.
